Industrial Mezzanine Lift

Benefits of A Mezzanine Lift

Mezzanine lifts protect your employees from having to raise pallets up by forklift in high traffic areas. Mezzanine lift systems can be surface mounted with a ramp or pit mounted so your carriage is flush with the ground floor. An industrial mezzanine lift is an efficient way to move material from lower levels to an upper floor.

When you install one of our freight lifts there is less down time. And when you need parts or service, you can count on a very quick response from a Trammell representative. Our freight elevators are all custom designed to the specific needs of your storage space.

Freight lifts are not the same as elevators and are not used to transport people. They fall into their own national code ASME B20.1 and are specifically exempt from the national elevator code.

They are commonly used in industrial plants, parts departments, manufacturing facilities, chicken plants, distribution centers and more.

Safety Features of Vertical Lifts

Each mezzanine lift is designed from the ground up with a variety of safety features designed to protect workers. Among those features are safety gates, enclosures, safety cams, decklocks, maintenance pins and more.

Safety Gates: Safety gates are available in single gates, bi-swing gates, and vertical acting gates. The maximum panel width for a panel is 6' wide. Panels are made of heavy duty wire mesh. All gates must be 8' high and reject a 2" ball in diameter on all sides.

Enclosures:All sides of the vertical lift that are exposed not used for loading and unloading must be protected by an enclosure. Enclosures connect to the gate and prevent access to the lift creating a safe space.

Safety Cams: Safety cams prevent accidental descent of the lift in case of a chain failure.

Engineered to meet your size, space, and space requirements, a mezzanine lift adds a level of efficiency and safety that is not achieved with other lifting means. Whether you are moving pallets or auto body parts to your work platforms, Trammell will design a solution tailored to your needs.

Important Questions to Ask:

Do I want my lift pit or surface mounted?
Platform lifts can be installed flush with a ramp or in a pit so the carriage is flush with the floor. The pit on the ground level can be from 4" deep to 8" deep depending on the lift style. Mounting lifts in a pit allows you to utilize a pallet jack while loading and unloading and reduces trip hazards.
Do I want full height enclosures or standard enclosures?
Mezzanine lift enclosures are necessary to keep employees from getting under lifts while they are in use. Enclosures can just be 7' high around loading and unloading areas or can be full height to eliminate any risk at all.
How much clear height do I have?
It is critical to make sure that you have enough clear height in your facility to install your freight elevator. Your overhead clear height can dictate what style lift you can use. If you have less than 10' clear height on the mezzanine level a cantilever lift may be the best option for you.
What accessories do I need on my mezzanine lift?
Mezzanine elevators accessories include bi-swing gates, vertical acting gates, pallet stop panels, full height enclosures, deck locks (for easy maintenance), wash down lifts (for food grade applications), safety cams, and more.
